Problems on Numbers: 1. The sum of the number and its reciprocal is 122/11. What's the square value of that number? Solution:                Let the number be x.                x+(1/x) = 122/11                x 2 +11-122x=0                (x-11)(11x-1)=0                x=11. The square value of that number is 121. 2. Find the positive number which when increased by 6 is equal to 55 times of its reciprocal of that number. Solution:                Let the number be x.                x+6 = 55/x                 x 2 +6x-55=0                (x-5)(x+11)=0                x=5. The positive number is 5.

Solution:                 Let the number be x.                 x 2 -3x=54                 x 2 -9x+6x-54=0                 (x-9)(x+6)=0                 x=9, -6.  The number is 9. 2. Twice the square of a natural number is equal to the 30 more than the four times of that number. Find the number. Solution:                 Let the number be x.                 2x 2  = 4x+30                 2x 2 -4x-30=0                 x 2 -2x-15=0                 x 2 -5x+3x-15=0                 (x-5)(x-5)=0                  x=5. The number is 5.
