Ratio and Propagation:

1Seats for Groups  A and B and C in a school are in the ratio 2:3:5. There is a proposal to increase these seats  by 20%, 30% and 50% respectively. What will be the ratio of increased  seats?

Solution:
                The new ratio will be
                      2x(120/100) : 3x(130/100) : 5x(150/100)
                      24: 39: 75
                      8: 13: 25.

2. A sum of money is distributed among P, Q, R and S in the proportion of 1: 3: 7: 11. If R gets 160 more than Q, what is S’s share?

Solution:
              R – Q = 160.
              7x-3x = 160.
              4x = 160.
              x = 40.

              S’s share is 11x = 11(40) = 440.

Problem to solve: Three numbers are in the ratio of 4:2:3 and their product is 648. Find the smallest number.
