Ratio and Propagation:
1. Seats for Groups A and B and C in a school are in the ratio 2:3:5. There is a proposal to increase these seats by 20%, 30% and 50% respectively. What will be the ratio of increased seats?
Solution:
The
new ratio will be
2x(120/100) : 3x(130/100) : 5x(150/100)
24: 39: 75
8: 13: 25.
2. A sum of money is
distributed among P, Q, R and S in the proportion of 1: 3: 7: 11. If R gets 160
more than Q, what is S’s share?
Solution:
R – Q
= 160.
7x-3x
= 160.
4x =
160.
x =
40.
S’s
share is 11x = 11(40) = 440.
