Surds and Indices:

Don’t be threatened by just seeing these equations. Just go through it. You may come across these in your lower grades.

Things to know about Indices:
  • am *an = am+n
  • am / an = am-n
  • (am)n = amn
  • (ab)n = anbn
  • (a/b)n = an/bn
  • a0 = 1

Things to know about Surds:

  • n√a = a1/n
  • n√ab = n√a  * n√b
  • n√a/b = n√a  / n√b
  • (n√a)n = a
  •  m n√a = mn√a
  • (n√a)m = n√am
