Ratio and Proportion:
1. Zinc and copper are melted together in the ratio 5:3. What's the weight of the melted mixture, if 50.5 kg of zinc has been consumed in it?
Solution:
( Ratio of zinc / Total ratio ) * Total weight = Weight of zinc
(5/8)*Total weight = 50.5
Total weight = 50.5 * 8/5
= 80.8 kg.
2. The compound ratio of (9:2), (7:8) and (3:5) is:
Solution:
The compounded ratio of the ratios (a:b),(c:d),(e:f) is (ace: bdf ).
ace = 9*7*3 = 189.
bdf = 2*8*5 = 80.
The compounded ratio of the given ratios is 189:80
Solution:
( Ratio of zinc / Total ratio ) * Total weight = Weight of zinc
(5/8)*Total weight = 50.5
Total weight = 50.5 * 8/5
= 80.8 kg.
