Aptitude Day 106

Ratio and Proportion:

1. Zinc and copper are melted together in the ratio 5:3. What's the weight of the melted mixture, if 50.5 kg of zinc has been consumed in it?

Solution:
               ( Ratio of zinc / Total ratio ) * Total weight = Weight of zinc

               (5/8)*Total weight = 50.5
                Total weight = 50.5 * 8/5
                                     = 80.8 kg.

2. The compound ratio of (9:2), (7:8) and (3:5) is:

Solution:
               The compounded ratio of the ratios (a:b),(c:d),(e:f) is (ace: bdf ).

               ace = 9*7*3 = 189.
               bdf = 2*8*5 = 80.

               The compounded ratio of the given ratios is 189:80
