Aptitude Day 108

Ratio and Proportion:

Answer of Day 107: 2:1

Problem:

A and B are 2 alloys of gold and copper prepared by mixing metals in the ratio 5:6 and 3:7 respectively. If equal quantities of the alloys are melted to form a third alloy C, the ratio of gold and copper in C will be:

Solution:
                Gold in C = 5/11 + 3/10 = 50+33/110 = 83/110.
                Copper in C = 6/11 + 7/10 = 60+77/110 = 137/110.

The ratio of gold and copper in C = 83/110: 137/110
                                                                           = 83:137

A problem to solve:

A sum of 80 is divided among A, B and C in such a way that A gets 8 more than what B gets and B gets 9 more than what C gets. The ratio of their shares is:
