Problems on Percentage:

1. If the sales tax be reduced from 1(1/3)% to 1(1/2)%, then what difference does it make to a person who purchases an article with a market price of 1200?

Solution:
                 Difference = (3/2 – 4/3)% of 1200
                                     = 1/(6*100) * 1200
                                     = 2.

2. An inspector rejects 0.04% of the meters as defective. How many will he examine to reject 4?

Solution:
                  4/(100*100) * x = 4
                  x = 10,000.
