Problems on Alligation or Mixture:

1. In what ratio must a grocer mix 2 varieties of pulses costing 10 and 30 per kg respectively so as to get a mixture worth 15 per kg?

Solution:
                10                       30
                             15
                 15                      5 


                  15: 5 = 3: 1.

2. Find the ratio in which rice at 8.40 a kg be mixed with rice at 6 a kg to produce a mixture worth 9.60 a kg.

Solution:
                  840                    600
                               960
                  360                      120


                  360: 120 = 3: 7.
