Aptitude Day 60

Answers of Day 59:
         1. 8.
         2. 2400.

Problems On Numbers:

1. The product of 2 fractions is 16/27 and their quotient is 3/4. The smaller fraction is:

Solution:
                Let the fractions be x and y.
                xy/(x/y) = (16/27) / (3/4)
                y2 = (16*4) / (27*3)
                y = 8/9.
                xy = 16/27
                x(8/9) = 16/27
                x = 2/3.
                The smaller fraction is 2/3.

2. In a pair of fractions, fraction x is thrice the fraction y and the product of 2 fractions is 3/64. What's the value fraction x?

Solution:
                x = 3y.
                xy = 3/64
                3yy = 3/64
                y2 = 1/64
                y = 1/8
                x = 3/8.
