Aptitude Day 77

Ratio and Proportion:

1. If x/3 = y/7, then (x+4) : (y+9) is equal to:

Solution:
               x/y = 3/7
              (x+4)/(y+9) = (3+4)/(7+9)
                                    = 7/16.

2. If a/5 =b/2 = c/3, then (a+ b+ c)/b is equal to:

Solution:
              Let a/5 = b/2 = c/3 = x
              a= 5x, b= 2x and c= 3x

              (a+ b+ c )/ b = (5x+2x+3x) / 2x
                                     = 10x/2x
              (a+ b+ c )/ b = 5.
