Ratio And Proportion: 

Basics:

a:b::c:d is equivalent to b*c = a*d

a:b = c:d 
Here the fourth proportional is d.

a:b = b:c
Here the third proportional is c.

Mean proportional between a and b is (ab)1/2 

The Duplicate ratio of (a:b) is a2:b2

The Sub-duplicate ratio of (a:b) is a1/2:b1/2  

The Triplicate ratio of (a:b) is a3:b

 The Sub-duplicate ratio of (a:b) is a1/3:b1/3
