Problems on Numbers

1. Two different natural numbers are such that their product is less than their sum. One of the numbers must be:

Solution:
                Let one number be x.
                (x*1) < (x+1).
                Hence one of the numbers will be 1.

2. The product of two numbers is 100 and the sum of their squares is 641. What's the sum of two numbers?

Solution:
               (x+y)2 = x2+y2+2xy
                          = 641+2(100)
                          = 841  
                   x+y = 29.
