Problem on Numbers

1. If one-third of one-fourth of number is  20, then three-tenth of the number is:

Solution:
                Let the number be x.
                (1/3)(x/4) = 20    [Given condition]
                              x = 20*12
                              x = 240
              (3/10)x = (3*240)/10
               Three-tenth of the number is 72. 

Problems to solve:

1. The difference between a number and its 3/4th is 30. What's the number?

2. If a number is decreased by 3 and divided by 2, then the result is 11. What would be the result if 5 is subtracted from the number and then is divided by 5?
