Problem on
Probability:
A man and his wife
appear in an interview for 2 vacancies in the same post. The probability of
husband’s selection is 1/6 and the probability of wife’s selection is ¼. What’s
the probability that only one of them is selected?
Solution:
P(A) =1/6.
P(A̅) = 1-1/6 = 5/6.
P(B)=1/4.
P(B̅)= 1-1/4 =3/4
Since only one of them is selected, the probability will be
P(A)*P(B̅) + P(A̅)+P(B) = 1/6 * 3/4 + 5/6 * 1/4
= 1/8 + 5/24
= 1/3.
Hey guys... From tomorrow we’re gonna see problems on
