Aptitude Day 166

Answers of Day 165:
                                   1. 75.
                                   2. 11.

Problems on Average:

1. The average price of 5 books is 10 while the average of 3 books is 9.5. Of the remaining 2 books, if the price of the 1 book is 30% more than the price of other, what’s the price of each of these 2 books?

Solution:
                 1st sum = 10*5 = 50.
                 2nd sum = 9.5*3 = 28.5.

                 x + 3x/10 = 50 – 28.5
                 10x+3x = 21.5*10
                 13x = 215
                 x = 16.5.

                The price of each of these books is x and 3x/10 = 16.5 and 4.95.

2. The average of runs of a cricket player of 5 innings was 20. How many runs must be made in his next innings so as to increase his average of runs by 5?

Solution:
                 1st sum = 20*5 = 100.
                 2nd sum = 25*6 = 150.

               150-100 = 50 runs he must make in his next innings so as to increase his average by 5.
