Aptitude Day 284

Problems on Trains:

1. A train 50 m long is running at the speed of 36 km/hr. Find the time taken by it to pass a man standing near the railway line.

Solution:
                  Speed = 36*5/18
                             = 10 m/s.

                  Time = 50/10
                            = 5 seconds.

2. A train is moving at a speed of 150 km/hr. If the length of the train is 90 m, how long will it take to cross a railway platform 110 m long?

Solution:
                 Speed = 150*5/18
'                           = 250/6 m/s.

                 Length = 90+ 110
                             = 200m

                 Time = 200/(250/6)
                          = 4(4/5) seconds.
