Aptitude Day 268

 Answers of Day 267: 1. 9.12 AM.
                                     2. 960 km/hr.

Problems on Time and Distance:

1. A can complete a journey in 6 hours. He travels 1st half of the journey at the rate of 12 km/hr and 2nd half at the rate of 14 km/hr. Find the total journey in km.
Solution:
                  (1/2)x/12 +(1/2)x/14 = 6
                  x/12 + x/14 = 12

                  By solving the above equation, we get
                  x = 8.3 km.

2. A man travelled a distance of 45 km in 10 hours. He travelled partly on foot at 5 km/hr and partly on cycle at 9 km/hr. The distance travelled on foot:

Solution:
                  x/5 + (45-x)/9 = 10
                  9x+ 225-5x = 450

                  By solving the above equation, we get
                  x = 69 km.
