Aptitude Day 282

Answers of Day 281: 1. 135 km.
                                    2. 7 times.

Problems on Time and Distance:

1. A salesman travels a distance of 20 km in 1 hour. How much faster in km/hr, on an average, must he travel to make such a trip in 3/5 hour less time?

Solution:
                  Required time = 1 -3/5[60] = 1- 36 = 24 minutes = 24/60 = 2/5 hours.
                  Required speed = 20*5/2 = 50 km/hr.
                  Original speed = 20/1 = 20 km/hr.

                  Their difference = 50 – 20 = 30 km/hr.

2. A man has to cover a distance of 4 km in 1 hour. If he covers one-half of the distance in two-thirds of the total time; to cover the remaining distance in the remaining time, his speed must be:

Solution:
                Remaining Distance = 2 km.
                Remaining Time = 1/3*[60] = 20 minutes = 1/3 hour.

                Required Speed = 2*3 = 6 km/hr.
