Problems on Time and Distance:

1. A man walking at a rate of 10 km/hr crosses a bridge in 30 minutes. The length of the bridge in meters:

Solution:
                  Speed in m/s = 10*5/18 
                                        = 50/18 m/s.

                  Length = 50/18*[30*60] 
                              = 5000 m.

2. One of the 2 buses completes a journey of 150 km in 2(1/3) hours and the other one completes 600 km in 14 hours. The ratio of their average speeds is:

Solution:
                 150*3/7 : 600/14 = 3:2.
